My grandmother Agnes Baker, from Comberton, Cambridgeshire, married Thomas (known as Roy) Elsworth in 1922 and moved into 5 Avondale Road. The property had been the Elsworth family house for a few years after Roy's father and mother, Thomas and Annie, moved from Warwick. He was a seedsman but fell on hard times and his suicide in 1916 attracted a lot of coverage in the local press. I never knew my grandfather as he died in 1939 but Agnes lived in the house until she died in the mid Eighties and I have fond memories of getting the bus from Eastern Green to have a Spam lunch with her (or Heinz beans with little sausages in!). It was also handy for the railway sidings as I was a trainspotter then. Agnes's sister Daisy lived in Lady Herbert's Garden. Lots more stories to tell.

Hi.
According to the marriage certificate for my Great Grandfather Jonathan English, groom, who married Elizabeth Walker, servant to Captain Fraser, on 13th March 1860 in the Parish Church in the Parish of St Thomas Coventry.both were resident in Earlsdon. witness were Thomas Black and Martha Angliss (possibly English as she signed with her mark). I have been unable to trace a Captain Fraser or his actual address and would be grateful for any help in this research. Jonathan was later described in various sources a a training groom and steeple chase rider.
Thank you for any help
Diana English.

I would love to hear from anyone who has any information on the Hewitt family, who were originally from Prescot in Lancashire and were in the watch trade. Joshua Hewitt born 1825, had a man and a boy in his employ in 1861 and they lived in Earlsdon at that time. Joshua was my great-great-grandfather.

Hello, I am trying to find any information at all about the family who lived in my house in Huntingdon Road. The were the only family to occupy it from 1912 until 2005. As our house celebrates 100 years of being a family home on 5 November, and the family all died, I would like to celebrate their memory along with the house's centenary if I can. They were the Ball Family. Walter and Gertrude were the parents. They had 3 daughters who never married, called, Elsie, Esme and Gwenda. I know Gwen was chairperson of a building form or something like that, but that's all I know. When Gwen died, the executors sold the house and auctioned off anything of value, understandably. They also had house clearers to remove everything else. There must have been photos and other stuff that would give us an idea of what their life was like over the last century, but frustratingly, it has been taken away, and probably thrown away. Any information on the family and the house would be greatly appreciated, along with any photos of Huntingdon road and memories of the blitz in Huntingdon Road.

I am related by marriage to Elizabeth Walker, a servant in the House of Captain Fraser, and who was married to Jonathan English on 13th March 1860 at the Parish Church, St. Thomas, Coventry. Jonathan was employed as a Groom but it is not known whether he was in the employ of Captain Fraser. The Paris Register entries just give place of residence as Earlsdon. It would be a great help if it were possible to obtain any further details, especially as to Captain Fraser and is household..

My great grandfather was Leon Forestier, the Swiss watchmaker featured in the website. From my family tree research, there's also a strong link in my family with the Hewitt family originally from Prescott, Lancashire. Would love to get in touch with anyone having more information about either of these two families.
